My in-laws lived in a double wide manufactured home
in Henefer. They are both BYU fans, so keep the pumping gas and pizza delivery jokes to a minimum. Manufactured homes are much better than a true mobile home. If I had some property in a remote-ish location, I'd consider living in one full time vs. the expense of building a framed house. However, in my experience from visiting them, it seemed that longevity would be a problem. The house was structurally sound, but the finish and detail work seemed to be lacking. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by their home. It changed my opinion from a "no - I would never consider it" to a "yes - I would at least consider it.". Depends on my family's needs and financial situation.
