Jeff Judkins was the appeal to Utah and Mormon players to come to UofU - or at least to stay at the UofU. He kept morale high on a team with a horrible coach for player morale.
Majerus pressured Chris Hill to get rid of Judkins because he felt Judkins was undermining his authority on the team when players would come to Judkins and talk about how much they hated Majerus.
They got rid of Judkins, and Utah has not been able to get the local recruits ever since. That and the morale of the team sucked.
