bronco places players, both former and existing, that he really trusts in hosting positions. these guys will host recruits that come to byu. bronco then asks these players if that particular recruit will do well at byu. he trusts their opinions. this is because recruits will be themselves around other players. they are more comfortable using foul language, talking about girls, etc.
you have no clue if that kid had WOW issues or other issues.
take manti te'o, for instance. he drank while with existing players. his father and everyone else that knew his family called bronco a liar. their impression of manti was that he was a saint.
do you really think this recruit that you knew would tell you if he had weaknesses?
i wouldn't judge unless i knew all the details.
