One recruits 12 players, and one 85.
Before we exalt Rose, please let us see him do it without having the best player BYU ever had. It is one thing to recruit 12-15 players, in a game where one, once in a lifetime phenomenon can make a difference, and one where you have eleven specialists on the field at all times. A great player like Jimmer can cover for other weaknesses in basketball, where weak players in football will be exploited all game.

Jeez I hate these posts. Yes, Bronco is defensive, and yes, he says some dumb things sometimes. But I really doubt most of us could sit in his position, and listen to a bunch of idiots who all think they are Bear Bryant, reincarnate, telling him what he is doing wrong without getting thin skinned. But it is ridiculous to compare the two sports, the requirements of recruiting for each sport, or the manner in which they have to go about it. Frankly, Rose could fill his team with LDS kids every year and be competitive. Bronco doesn't have that luxury, and couldn't field a competitive team without non-LDS kids in the skill positions. I certainly don't mind him drawing a clearer line in the sand for the kids he recruits, and if that is the price we pay to not have the school (and church) embarrassed, I am happy to pay it.
