high bench press reps have helped some like...
...Travis Bright and Scott Young find a home in the NFL but that is all. It hasn't helped them get much time (if any) on the field. I think Travis spent a couple seasons on the practice squad and is finally getting some PT as a backup interior lineman. I don't know if Scott Young ever made it onto the active roster.

Strength is important for an interior lineman, but for a tackle NFL scouts want to see more lateral quickness and agility. 40 times and bench press aren't as important as some of the quickness drills they do. They're typically handling the smaller faster defensive ends on the outside. Body type is important too. NFL scouts like tackles with long arms. Matt has a good body type for a tackle. He might not be quick enough laterally for an NFL Left Tackle but would be a very good Right Tackle on a team with a right handed QB.
it's not all doom and gloom for Matt. He'll have a nice NFL career.
