I fully believe JoeBravo's story
but there is a twist to my belief. I bet at some point the BIG-12 approached BYU, could have been in an informal way, to get a "feeler" about BYU's current Independence situation. When they heard back that BYU was satisfied with its direction, having recently signed and agreement with ESPN, built the broadcast facility, and formed new partners with the WCC, they (the BIG-12) moved on and never returned - and will never return.

Let's face it, BYU has very little chance of going to BIG-12. I am not going to call it a burnt bridge, but the BIG-12 has moved east. At this point, there is no reason for the BIG-12 to look west. BYU is out of the way of their expansion.

I firmly believe this. In hindsight, I wonder if Holmoe and others regret their satisfaction with independence. The message it sent to the fans and financial implications (not what they could have had, but the loss from current donors and sponsors) will be very tough to overcome in the future.

We are all entitled to an opinion and this is mine. Flame away believers!
