Well if we've never had discussions, not having discussions, and its not likely we'd ever have discussions, probably what they are supposed to do is not make statements like this (via the Deserset News):
"Holmoe said the "process," which he would not elaborate on, is "ongoing" and he refused to say how close Big 12 membership was for BYU. Asked if BYU has come close to being invited, he said it is hard to say. "It is an internal matter. It came close for TCU and you saw how quick that happened and how quick things changed on the landscape of college football.
My point is that either Chad Lewis doesn't know, or he does know and what he said is actuslly true. If that is the case, statements like the one above would lead any reasonable person to believe the school is not being straight about what did or what possibly could happen.
When TCU joined it would have been the perfect time to move the dialogue forward, as in: "We did not have discussions about joining the Big 12, and I have no reason to believe that we will in the future. That being said, we are closely monitoring the landscape of college football and will carefully weigh our options if joining a conference like the Big 12 ever became a possibility."
