membership is better athletic programs. Plain and simple. Yes there are other dumb little things like license plate holders or newsletters, but the point of Haddow's post is that BYU athletics must be self-sufficient and to compete in today's atmosphere takes money and lots of it. For BYU, that's got to come from private donations, and BYU fans are woefully bad at supporting the school monetarily compared to other programs.
