1. BYU fans will call the Utes chicken.(Personally I hate playing them, and just hope that they and their fans forget about BYU. I know I will gladly forget about the Utes. They are already somewhat a distant memory for me).
2. The SLC media will have nobody to blame since the Utes are clearly the ones who are terminating the relationship. There will still be a few in the media who will blame BYU for not taking a 2 for 1 deal, but they will be poo-pooed.(Be grateful for this. If it were BYU ending it there would be a huge outcry from the media).
3. The # of Utes stickers and decals on vehicles of "fans" will drop significantly.
4. The SLC media sports talk stations will talk less about BYU.
All in all I can't see a downside.
