I agree with your post. The problem is
that most BYU fans will not. My opinion and what I think the real underlying issue is here is not that Yewtah is "afraid" to play us any more but that as BYU fans I think we want to feel "wanted". To hear our biggest rival say that we do not matter to them any more is what is pissing a lot of BYU fans off. In addition, the fact that we have consistently been overlooked in the conference expansion talk and the Yewts got picked and we didn't to join the Pac 10.2 is also a touchy point for us. I think most Cougar fans are not willing to just accept the fact that we are being overlooked again. What yewtah is doing is probably the right thing to do for their school and its athletic program. We do not like it because we are so used to being "Big Brother" and have gotten used to the fact that they need us more than we need them. The fact is we have lost a lot to our rival over the last decade and it is no longer us dominating them. It sucks to admit that but it is the truth. Now I do feel that now that Yewtah is in a BCS conference that they are letting it go to their heads. They are pulling the "we are big time now and have no room for you any more" card. It is a hard pill to swallow but imagine if we were the ones now in a BCS conference and the Yewts were independent, what would our attitude be. We would probably have just as big of heads as they do right now and we would be gloating too. I do not think that our board of directors and athletic department would just throw away a storied tradition though. I would like to think that we would do everything on our power to keep it going but we will never know that cause we are the ones on the outside looking in.

I want to make it clear that I do NOT want this rivalry to end. It is good for college football to have long traditioned rivalries. It may be time to just move on and focus on what we have currently and that is our football independance. We cannot do anything about the Yewts not "wanting" us any more and would be well to let this one go.
