sure he'll still be able to have a good, productive season. He's always had some spurts. He's always fought through some injuries which have affected his production at different times. But he's also going through learning new pitchers, seeing people for the first time. That's harder on the batter than it is on the hitter. So I'm sure at some point he'll get in the groove and crank out the HRs.
My reason for smiling through this is that Cardinals fans always feared they wouldn't do well without him, yet it turns out they have adjusted quite well. Matheny is off to a good start as a manager. John Jay and Matt Carpenter have been quite good so far. Carlos Beltran seems like he's back to his good production, as has happened with several older players lately when they have come to STL. The overall production has been fantastic, as it certainly isn't one player carrying them. Their pitching has been fantastic so far. I love it.
