In fact, that is the goal of the institution. It's why President Samuelson's remarks last fall re: "don't hold your breath" and the "arms race of major conference athletics" can be taken at face value. Tom Holmoe and his staff will always work for what is best for the program and the athletes we love to cheer. They will do it in a way that brings honor to everyone associated with the stretch Y. And if it doesn't lead to the Big 12 as some indications show, we all get to ask ourselves what we really are cheering for.
One thing I do know, when it all finally settles, T. Boone Pickens will supplant Ann Richards in being the focus of the BYU fan base's hatred.
