riley's jump from 2010 to 2011 was really miraculous
i remember watching the 2010 AFA game and pulling my hair out because he was so easy to defend. he'd make one read and tuck and run. then he gets injured, misses most of the season, has offseason shoulder surgery, loses his job, takes special team reps just to see the field and...

he ends up stealing the QB job from someone with more natural talent than him and ends the season ranked in the top 15 in the nation of QB efficiency. this is with losing his job, no first team reps in spring or summer due to everyone being sold on jake and him recovering from surgery and taking over mid-season in a crazy year for doman and BYU in general. you probably couldn't have scripted a more difficult "rise to power" as it were.

i'm not saying riley's going to be peyton manning in 2012 but with an entire offseason (and the first such offseason) of him being "the guy" and getting a huge volume of reps i expect nothing less than a more mobile version of max hall, with slight less accuracy.

that bodes well for 2012. add iona as a true FB, wilson/mahina back for TE, Juice as RB (i'm not sold on alisa) and a slew of talented WR's and our O is, i believe, vastly under-rated. if it were a stock i'd be buying it...and a lot of it.
