So Riley has looked pretty good against some of the worst D-1 schools out there for 1/2 of a season, and I'm a terrible fan for saying the jury is still out? Keep in mind, I didn't say he WOULDN'T get there. I only said the hyperbole of some people in these threads is a little much.
Go ahead and crown Riley all-world now if you want to. He very well could be. I still say the jury is out, and it doesn't make me a bad fan to say that. I remember the Tulsa game. I remember boneheaded plays against TCU. I'll certainly be rooting for him, but he won't make the ranks of the greats, or even the second tier until he has more games under his belt.
Let me ask YOU a question, Mr. Awesome Fan Who Knows History: where do you rank Ryan Hancock? Most fans don't rank him among the best quarterbacks in BYU history. Usually he doesn't even get mentioned in the second tier. Why? It's his body of work--he really didn't get much opportunity to show how great he was. He was brilliant in the games he played, so in a way it's not fair, and I loved Hancock. The fact is, we didn't see enough to really give an accurate assessment. That's all I'm saying with Riley too.
