Are you a closet UTe fan? What good does it do you to continue to obsess over it? Does it make you feel warm and fuzzy inside?
Oh, and you're dead wrong that teams that work hard and do everything they can to prepare can't get blow out. Here's a little story. I've been involved in organized football my whole life except for the 3 years I was in law school. I've played a lot of football and I coach HS football. My junior year of HS, we were 11-0 going into the state semifinals. We had been to the state semifinals the previous two years and had come up short, so we were hungry and determined to break through and win a state championship. We had great players on the team (7 first or second team all-staters). We practiced harder and longer than we had all year leading up to that state semi-final game. Everyone on the team was focused and ready to win the game. The team we were playing was 9-2. We were a much better team on paper, and based on the common opponents both of us had played, we should have gone in to that game and won easily. On our first 5 possessions we had turnovers. Stupid little things happened like a DT getting a fingertip on a pass and slightly deflecting it. A blown offsides call led to a sack and fumble recovery for a TD. At halftime it was something like 30-6. The game ended up being very similar to last year's Utah game in the final score.
The bottom line is that every football team runs into a game where nothing goes right and they get blown out. The continued obsession and hand-wringing over last year's Utah game is to the point where it's nauseating.
