Just as a reminder of the kind of money we're talking with ESPN Dick Harmon wrote a piece that mentioned that BYU made more TV money off of the Oklahoma game then the rest of the year combined. That was in the MWC which was 1.7 million per year. So we can assume that BYU made at least 1.7 million on that one game alone.
Now I'm not saying that ESPN pays that kind of dough for every game but they could be paying that kind of dough for the big games.
Last season the Texas game probably paid out close to 2 million. The TCU game probably paid out less than Texas but not by much. Ole Miss was at least over 1 million would be my guess.
That's between 4-5 million for 3 games.
Now unless BYU got paid 300k per game for the remaining 9 games I think it's safe to assume that BYU makes more money as an independent than they would in the Big East.
