Clemson, ACC and Notre Dame - from Clemson Booster
Swapping emails with my buddy who is a Clemson Booster. I sent him the ESPN link about the two hour closed meeting and speculation that Clemson is leaving the ACC. He says that he doesn't buy it, but offered to save me a seat in death valley should BYU and Clemson ever end up in the same conference. (he is the one that told me the close road games are too important).

A way to keep those close road games? The rumor on the Clemson board (no, I didn't go look for a link, he doesn't believe it - he was only passing it on) was that the ACC was going to make a preemptive move and offer ND and Texas to join the ACC, allowing Texas to keep the LHN and allow ND some leeway on their TV stuff.

Interesting rumor, I don't buy it, but I thought I would pass it on too, before Greg Swaim starts tweeting it to get attention...

Why don't I buy it either (besides ND not leaving independence)?

1. I think Texas likes being the big dog. Clearly, they are the big dog in the B12.

2. I can't seeing the ACC contract being that much larger than the B12 TV contract, even with Notre Dame, especially if ND and T keep some of their TV rights. Plus, the B12 is stable for the first time in a long, long time...(has the TV rights agreement been executed yet - last I heard it was agreed to, but not executed - anyone know for sure? That would certainly put any rumor to rest).

3. OU is tied to the hip with Texas. Maybe some bad blood was created during OU's antics last fall - who knows? Maybe there is no such thing as a long term partnership - look no further than A&M...

In the end, I don't see UT leaving for a basketball centric conference.

Thoughts? - this certainly doesn't seem probable to me. I strongly believe that the ACC is doing a full court press on ND - that makes sense for every conference in the general region.

Notre Dame seems like the totally hot chick needing a date with only ugly chicks as any alternative for the boy conferences...
