They have to. I love the ability to watch all of their games and have the "flexibility" of being independent but College Football is moving towards more and more agreements between conferences. Soon you will see the Big 12 only really playing outside games vs the SEC, the Pac 12 is already headed towards playing their own schools and the Big ten. (Ohio St just nixed a H-H series with Georgia) Im not saying that I like this, but BYU will HAVE to be in a conference to be able to play any meaningful games....and like it or not the Big East isn't a terrible choice.
