will ever invite BYU. It's delusional!
First, that PAC12 passed on BYU for Utah and Colorado. BYU clearly has the larger fanbase, better all-around athletic program and better academics and we were passed up on. They're not coming back! The PAC12 has no reason to add teams, every other team besides BYU will dilute the TV contract. They don't need more broadcasting options, Utah will be playing on FX and fox regional for heaven's sake. They have their CC game and their premier broadcasting teams in USC, UCLA, Oregon, Cal and UW. They're done!
Second, the BigXII passed on BYU for TCU and West Virginia. TCU is a small christian college in the heart of BigXII country with less than 10K enrollment. And they're all Texas and TAMU fans anyway. They added nothing significant to the BigXII footprint. And if that wasn't enough of a clue to BYU fans they went east for West Virginia! WV has no academic credibility and a bunch of hillbilly couch burning fans, there was no prestige in that addition. But it wasn't BYU and it won't be BYU. If they shoot for 12 and a conference championship game they will wait out ND, FSU, Clemson, GT, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech or Miami or any other team in the south east. They don't want their foot in west they want it in the south!
Third of all, BYU didn't go Indy because they felt superior to the company they were keeping in the MWC. It was TV money and TV exposure including BYUtv programming. If any conference can offer them comparable TV money, TV exposure and give BYUtv 3rd tier rights and re-broadcast rights the advantages of a conference far outweigh the advantages of indy and BYU will jump, especially if the can keep oly sports in the WCC.
BYU's long term plan isn't indy and it won't be in the PAC12 or BigXII.
