BYU, ND & the Big 12 Hybrid
In my first post on cougarboard.com, I am hoping to get some informal feedback from you.

As many of you know, there is a persistent rumor that Notre Dame may have interest in moving their Olympic Sports from the Big East to the Big 12, along with 6 football games per year. A decision might be made as quickly as late June. If ND did join the Big 12 as a partial member, additional rumor is that BYU might also be offered as a partial member of the Big 12, as a "football-only" member, to balance ND, which would be "Olympic-only".

The advantage of "football-only" is that BYU's "Sunday policy" ought to pose no issue to either party. Travel concerns for BYU and Big 12 members also ought to pose but little concern since only football would be involved. I personally think that such a hybrid might create a symbiotic relationship for BYU and the Big 12, but then, I am on the outside looking in.

I feel certain the hybrid has been discussed on this board, but I can't find a thread. I am personally much intrigued by the hybrid because I believe there are many benefits available from a BYU association with the Big 12.

Is there any real interest among BYU fans for such a hybrid? Or is the entire idea simply rude since it might never result in BYU becoming a full member of the Big 12? Such an association might also terminate at such time as Notre Dame became a full member (if they ever did), and that, too, ought to be considered.

I would appreciate any feedback, positive or negative. Thanks.
