So, I'm not going to say where I get the info, just that it is a source that if it happens, he would be involved. Everything is still up in the air. Board of Directors basically says it needs to be built using money that is raised, not from the general funds. There are basically 3.5 different spots that they would build it. 1. Marriot Center parking lot. Not likely as it would take away even more parking. 2. Next too the stadium in the hills. Not likely because it would cost too much to level the ground. 3. East end of Stadium parking lot + property already owned. Possible, but would still remove some parking. 3.5 (3.5 because it's pretty much the same area as 3 but less parking would be taken up). House directly across from Marriot Center would be purchased, demolished and then with the other 2 lots BYU already owns, they would build the majority of the building there.
It is likely that this building would not be ready for at least 2 years. But everyone wants to get it done to "give" something to Dave Rose. At least 3 big name schools have given him a serious offer and he has said no. He has shown loyalty to the Y and wants to remain here. Getting this facility done is pretty much a gift to Rose to help convince him that BYU is where he should be.
