BB Player/Stake Pres told not to serve mission [True Story]
This post by Jericho about a Stake President that was told if he came to BYU he would not need to serve a mission is at least half true.
I know the Stake President in reference. He is a Stake President at Wymount and he really was visited by an apostle as a high school student and told that his mission would be playing basketball for BYU. He actually spoke about it often-- I think he may have been self conscious about not having served a mission. He later went on to play Pro basketball in Europe (Holland?).
The part about Jabari is, however, likely an embellishment. Maybe the SP said it was possible they were in contact... either way it did happen to the SP.
