Because of the fire, fireworks shows were banned, and a lot of celebrations across the city were cancelled. We were kind of bummed about it.
Over the last few days, people have started to notice that every evening the firefighters who are just getting done with their 16-hour shifts take the same route back to their "headquarters" or whatever. So handfuls of people have started to gather along that route, specifically at this one corner. Well tonight we showed up, and apparently a thousand+ or so others had the same idea. Such a cool experience. Here's a video and a couple pictures. This went on for over an hour. Definitely won't forget this Fourth of July.
