I'd like to know how it works
Ute fans say that playing BYU now is a no-win; if they win they are expected to as a PAC 12 team. If they lose, they aren't supposed to because they are a PAC 12 team. Seems to me that the past 20 years say nothing to that effect.

Is there some sort of transmogrification or transfiguration that goes on to a team/players when they are officially in a new conference? Did the Utes experience said phenomenon? Now does this apply to all teams in such conferences, or just to a select few? I mean, certainly no one would say a game between PAC 12 MEMBER Washington St. and BYU is a no win for the Cougars from the northwest, would they? How about for Oregon St.? UCLA? Arizona?

Inquiring minds want to know.
