The Hobbit I get--it's much jauntier, faster-paced, and has more of a sense of style and fun. But LOTR is just a slog for me. Part of it is probably also the way the ring is presented. In the Hobbit, it just makes you invisible. The endless walking and dealing with the metaphysical weight of it in LOTR was just too taxing for me. To each his own, I guess.
