I realize this post is a futile attempt to explain the logic behind our decision to drop BYU and you will all dismiss it before you read it. But oh well, here goes: every insult you try to hurl at Utah for WHY doesnt hold water. There is ONE reason we dropped you like a bad habit. Ill get to that in a minute. But first, let me debunk your lame insults one by one;
"Utah is scared to play BYU"
WRONG-We dropped you to play the winninges program of all time.
"But..but..but...Georgia plays G Tech. Florida plays FSU"
RIGHT-But GA also plays Buffalo, Georgia Southern and FAU. Florida plays Bowling Green, Jacksonvilel State and UL Lafyette. See what we big boys do there? 1 hard team and a couple cupcakes.
"Utahs schedule is so weak"
WRONG-In 2014 Utah plays USC, Oregon, Stanford, Michigan. Thats 4 of the top 12 teams this last year. Pretty impressive. The Pac 12 had 3 of the top 7 teams in the nation last year.
"BYU is about loyalty"
SURE-just like you were all but dotting the i's & crossing the t's to jump to the Big 12 in 1996 until Baylor was "forced in". Or is that a lie that has been perpetuated over and over? Or how you treat Utah State like a red headed step child. Loyalty means nothing to BYU
"Utah will wallow in mediocrity"
WRONG-I thought you all said the Pac 12 sucked and Utahs schedule was easy? That would mean Utah will win a lot of games right? Or is the Pac 12 tough? Which one is it? Either way, our first year in a major BCS league with backup QB we win 8 games. Thats with players that were recruited to a MWC school. Just wait till all our P12 athletes get in here.
"Utah attendance will decline"
WRONG-98% renewal rate and over 100% attendance 3 years in a row say otherwise. And its not because BYU was on the schedule. Again, ten "power 5" teams per year on our schedule. As KW recently put it "our program is bigger than the rivalry"
So, what it boils down to is ONE thing. The truth is the reason we stopped scheduling you, its nothing to do with the above. The reason is.... because.... WE.....DONT....LIKE....YOU. Thats it. Truth hurts. But thems the breaks.
