Herman Longhurst BYU figure - Leather helmet included
Here's a figure of Herman Longhurst, one of the first greats in BYU history. If you're unfamiliar with him he's the guy that scored the winning touchdown to beat the yewts for the first time in BYU history. BYU was down 7-6 midway through the fourth quarter when BYU blocked a punt and got the ball on the 10 yard line. On 4th ang goal from the 3 yard line Longhurst was given the ball, and broke 3 tackles to get the ball into the endzone. The defense held the lead and BYU beat Utah 12-7. Fans stormed the field and tore down the goalposts, And Wikipedia claims that the celebration lasted for 3 days, culminating with the Mayor of Provo declaring and official day of celebration on the following Monday.
I've included a couple photos below, one of Longhurst in black and white, and one digitally colored photo of the team that shows off their bright orange jerseys. The coach apparently had them wear the orange jerseys to help the players identify their teammates on the field.
