One time I was at a 5k race and their printer didn't work.
They were desperately searching for a way to print a list of times and certificates (yeah, this was a while ago). He asked the crowd if anyone knew anything about computers and looked right at me. I mean, he stared right at me. After a long pause, I shook my head no even though I had IT experience and was actually looking for a job at the time. They couldn't find anyone to solve their problem so eventually everyone left without their race results and memorabilia. I went home thinking how big of an idiot I was. My wife was ticked because she ran in the race. I was just there to pick her up. Who knows, maybe he would have offered me a job, maybe it would have changed my life or maybe not but I still regret not stepping forward that day.
