We had family in town from SoCal between Christmas and New Year's. They are from Ontario, CA, which is where Devin Mahina is from. Since they don't keep up to date on what's going on with BYU football, I told them that Mahina was still high on BYU's list. This threw my sister in law into a tizzy. She told me that Mahina is the topic of much conversation in the area among the members because he has stated to BYU coaches that he will only come to BYU if they also accommodate his girlfriend, who apparently is LDS but who doesn't fit BYU's academic criteria. So the members are looking closely at the situation waiting to see if BYU makes a special exception to the girlfriend.

My feeling is that it will be a cold day in you-know-where before Bronco ever makes that kind of an exception. Perhaps they could help get the gf into UVSC, but it's not going to happen at BYU. And if he's going to play manipulation games with BYU's coaching staff, well, Mahina may as well forget about playing football for BYU. We don't need him that bad!
