First most of BSU fans and Yewt fans are johnny come latelys, weren't born yet, couldn't quote anything of relevance about football in the 80s, and your programs had nothing till this decade. Yes both your programs are better in this decade, ill give you that.

Back to 1984. There were no undefeated teams playing at a Florida, Alabama, Texas, TCU type level. The only other team in the coversation for the title was Oklahoma who ended up 9-2-1...wow impressive. Then U of Washington came into the conversation because they beat OU. But they had a late season loss to a 9-3 USC team. And BYU waxed U of Wash early the next year 31-3.

Point is BYU was ahead of their time, no one had answers for their offense, only turnovers slowed BYU down back then (kind of like now), but MOST importantly, there was No One else in 1984. Florida was decent, but on probation.

I'll admit college football is a lot more competitive now, but given all the competition there are many more great teams to choose from now, so a BSU and U of U can't slide in the back door. Keep playing at this level and you might get your shoot, but BYU national championshig is a long time ago, but legit my friends.
