BYU and speed

My analysis shows that of BYU's last 3 recruiting classes only 22% are playing now, mostly due to missions and a few due to attrition (normal in most programs).

My point is that the past 3 years many more have been leaving on missions than coming home from missions, leaving a talent gap and this is going to start to equal out starting next year so that there isn't such a talent gap, particularly on defense where most of the good recruited lbs are on missions.

This said, the secondary recruiting is poor and needs to pick up. Signing 5 foot nothing guys late and expecting they are going to be good is probably not going to work, yet that is what BYU did since they were late in recruiting. Then, this year it seems they are not signing many cbs or secondary players and the loss of Teo puts them behind at safety. Somehow they have to find a way to recruit better secondary players and/or convert better players from offense.

Also, the OL does need to go on a diet (less fat more muscle) and work on their foot speed. Send them to ballet or yoga class, try something new to whip them into shape and make them nastier for these fast defenses.
