I'll solve the mystery of the BCS computers for you. USC has wins at Ohio State, at Cal, and at Notre Dame when each of them were ranked. And even though they got blown out by Oregon, the computers don't factor in a margin of victory anymore. The loss to Oregon isn't a big blow to the computers because they are a top 10 team. So, they have one bad loss, one loss at a top 10 team, and three good wins. That's why they are highly rated by the computers.
Some of the computers take ranking from the previous year as a starting point also, by the way. That is also helping them out.
Also, for the record, they were ranked 9th by the computers before the loss when the humans had them 4th (I'm pretty sure). And the humans are two thirds of the BCS average. If you are going to blame someone for propping USC up, the pollsters are the ones you should probably blame.
I wouldn't feel bad about shafting Boise State again, unless it's for Notre Shame.
