Again and again the defense is "All fans do it"

Or if it isn't "all fan bases do this" it's "why single out a very small percentage of fans who are bad?"

I have a few problems with that thinking:

>> At least according to Coach Hill, what's happening is not the kind of thing that's on-par with 'all fan bases'.

>> Next, how does anyone here know how deep the anger runs? How much time do you spend with the players or coaches? Why do you have a better finger on the pulse of their interactions with the fans than they do? Why are you so sure it's only a few bad apples and maybe not some bad apples or even kind of a lot of bad apples. People keep throwing out numbers like they've taken some kind of survey around the stadium during the game.

>> Third, even if it's only a few bad apples, if you want the team to do better, why not help the team when they ask for it. When they asked you to wear blue, people eventually wore blue. Is is so much to ask to try to not be quite so angry?

>> And finally, since when has 'everyone else does it' been an excuse for BYU? I love BYU because it has high standards. I love them because they set high goals and challenge people to meet them. As Yewt fans and the Salt Lake Tribune have discovered, having high standards makes it really easy to criticize you.

So tell me, what's wrong with wanting a fan base that isn't so angry? That doesn't heckle it's own and that doesn't personally attack the players and people that are working to represent the school, the community, and church?
