We've had some problems with our new church becoming the "parking center" for local copulation. One prostitute seems to have been using it for her spot. Then our bishop's daughters were assaulted with a man wielding a baseball bat. Anyway, we were asked to keep an eye out. On my way back from training, I noticed a car in the parking lot. I shined my lights in the window just in time to get an eyeful. So I just stopped about 100 feet from the car, hoping they would move on. The guy turned his car to face mine, as if the play chicken. So I turned to the side, to make it clear that I didn't want to play. He swerved and barely missed my back bumper, but then parked within inches on my back bumper.
I carry a legal concealed sidearm, but I never want to be tempted to use it, so I took it out, left it in the car, and then got out to see if he had hit the car. He swerved around and came right at me. I put my hand out and he hit me. Wasn't too bad, but got my attention. By this point neighbors around the church were calling the police. He rolled down his window and talked tough, but didn't get out. I just nicely asked him to move on.
So I asked my wife to get his license plate. He took mine and also called the police claiming "harassment" - (or major interruptous as I like to call it). Thank goodness I have 4-5 witnesses. I said I didn't want to press charges, but that he should understand that hitting me with a car is pretty serious. When I heard he'd called and claimed harassment, it made me want to push things to the limit.
Fun date night!
