"Hey - I love the fans. They provide an electric atmosphere for our home games, and you can often hear a strong congingent whether we're playing Boston College out east, in New Orleans or down at UCLA."

"Of course, the fans aren't happy when we lose. None of us are. We know the fans will ask questions and they are entitled to do that. I am going to be booed and criticized. Our players are going to be booed and criticized. That is just part of the game. No one should or even does take offense to that.

"By and large, the fans are wonderful and supportive. Even the minority of fans who boo us and criticize us only do so because they have the same objective: to win football games. I just want to emphasize that we all want to win."

Problem is . . . he never said any of that.
