watched the USU game from last year

and Hill had a better game than I remembered. He was pretty accurate and made some good throws most of the game. Made some smart throw aways when pressured, but also threw it into coverage a few times, with the one INT. The offense was moving it, but stalled just outside the bluezone several times. Hoffman made some great catches. Several holding calls hurt the Cougars in the 2nd half, especially the one right after the USU fumble to start the 2nd half. USU interference on long Hoffman pass was not called. Terrible FG kicking, as typical last year, glad we are bringing in another kicker. Hadley put the forehand shimmer to the USU qb on that fumble play and is kind of a nasty player...good for us. I forgot how little brother Hadley got the personal foul on the sideline for grabbing and pulling the USU player off the byu receiver. Ziggy was making plays, but out of the game quite a bit so Bronso got a lot of reps. BYU should have won by more than a td.

Doman clearly ran the qb draw too much and it cost him with the injury at the end...been over how stupid that was.

I think the offense was a lot better with a servicable center last year....Hansen played the USU game at center vs. other games where the undersized guy started. I hope we can find a good center this year, one who is big enough for one. I think the coaches tried to address the center position in the offseason by bringing in a few new guys so let the best man win the job.

RE: BYU search trends 04-13

I thought the discussion earlier about search trends was interesting and wanted to look at it some more. Not to prove any point, just curious.

I noticed that each term seemed to be decreasing overall. I guessed that it was just due to the expanding use of the internet. When you filter the results to just the USA, the trend almost completely disappears. Seems that the decrease is mainly due to increases in searches around the world and I would guess that the variety of searches even in the states has increased, accounting for the remainder of the relative declines.
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=byu%2C%20lds%2C%20university%20of%20utah&geo=US&cmpt=q

I also wondered what the Pac 12 search results would look like. You can see the formation of the Pac 12 network and increased efforts to promote the conference as a whole and not just each individual team. Seems to have worked in creating quite a bit of search results at the vary least.
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=BYU%2C%20university%20of%20Utah%2C%20pac%2012&geo=US&cmpt=q

I was curious how the search terms for University of Utah related to it's conference foes. I added University of Oregon, UCLA, and USC. USC and UCLA seemed about right, but I was surprised that University of Utah and University of Oregon were so similar.
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=pac%2012%2C%20university%20of%20utah%2C%20university%20of%20oregon%2C%20usc%2C%20ucla&geo=US&cmpt=q

Figured maybe it was due to the terms being used. Couldn't find a better term than University of Utah, but found that the key term for Oregon is "Oregon Ducks" which popped out huge in football season and far surpassed University of Oregon.
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=uofu%2C%20university%20of%20utah%2C%20university%20of%20oregon%2C%20the%20ducks%2C%20oregon%20ducks&geo=US&cmpt=q

Curious on how we compared to some of the top schools around the nation. Nothing too unexpected. Our biggest spike which was during the time of the Jimmer was a little above the low times for those big schools.
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=byu%2C%20usc%2C%20auburn%2C%20notre%20dame%2C%20ohio%20state&geo=US&cmpt=q

And BYU vs. The Jimmer
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=byu%2C%20jimmer%2C%20the%20jimmer%2C%20fredette%2C%20jimmer%20fredette&geo=US&cmpt=q

And against some well known lower level schools.
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=byu%2C%20Oregon%20ducks%2C%20boise%20state%2C%20gonzaga%2C%20tcu&geo=US&cmpt=q

Like I said, there's only so much you can draw from it. But thought it was interesting and wanted to add some more.

Just rewatched the first half of last years bowl game

It had been awhile but after watching the 1st half and watching both the Hawaii and Utah States games from last year this past week. I have decided that I wish that Hill could have been the starter all season long. In our Bowl Game just in the first half Lark had 2 picks that went right in the hands of the SDSU guys and they just dropped it. And then of course we remember the Nelson Pick 6 that got called back for a chop block. Hill seemed to manage games better especially the Utah State game and made smarter decisions. I remember at one point in the Hawaii game, Hill was suppose to throw one of those stupid bubble WR screens that Doman loved to run, but right when he was suppose to throw it the Hawaii defender was right there in the air waiting for the pick so Hill brought the ball back in and took off and ran for 20 yards. If you go back and watch that game you will know which play I am talking about it be very impressed with his decision making. I am glad that Hill is healthy and will be leading our offense this year. I've said this before but there REALLY is a reason that John Harbaugh recruited Hill. He will be special.

Only 15 more Saturdays left!!!!

Gary Anderson offering a lot of West Coast LDS kids

He got a verbal from the East HS RB.

He has also offered two LDS DE's, one who has a BYU offer, and another who will probably get one at camp. They are both good players.

Wisconsin may become a bigger recruiting thorn in BYU's side than Utah.
