LAWRENCE, Kan. – The motto for the BYU women’s soccer team in 2019 is “Find A Way.” On Thursday night, the No. 7 ranked Cougars pulled off a big win in Big XII country over the No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks.
The Cougars (7-0) defeated Kansas (7-2) 2-0 to keep their undefeated season alive and continue their best start to a season since 2005.
After a scoreless first half, which was the second consecutive match BYU was held scoreless through the first 45 minutes, BYU’s attack jumped on the Jayhawks early in the second half.

Minutes later, Mikayla Colohan followed up the quick-strike attack from the Cougars in the second half with a goal of her own in the 48th minute extending the lead to 2-0.
BYU’s defense shut down their opposition like they’ve been known to do this season. The Cougars recorded their fifth consecutive shutout and sixth of the season.

“This was a fantastic women’s college soccer game and we were really challenged,” BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. “I am impressed with our team and how we started off and how we had to fight through at the end to hold off a surge that Kansas had. It was a great game tonight.”
The Cougars recorded 16 shots and five corner kicks while the Jayhawks tallied 12 and six, respectively. BYU goalkeeper Sabrina Davis tallied four saves on the night.
