PROVO, Utah – New BYU Basketball head coach Mark Pope has brought a 24/7, relentless attitude to the Cougar hoops program.
But sometimes amidst the relentless working, it’s good to settle in for a nice breakfast. Especially when it’s with a former BYU basketball great.
Pope sent out a tweet on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday showing him at breakfast with former BYU basketball star Devin Durrant and current assistant coach Nick Robinson.

Relationships with alumni have been a big priority for Pope since he took over the BYU job. He made it a priority at Utah Valley as well. Bringing UVU greats Ronnie Price and Travis Hansen out to the UCCU Center for games.
We have seen in the past with BYU football, in particular, that prominent alumnus can have a lot of impact on a program.
Durrant was a BYU legend during his playing days in Provo. In his four years with the Cougars, Durrant scored 2,285 points, which was good for 19.5 per game and currently puts him at fifth all-time in scoring at BYU.
After his career at BYU was over in 1984, Durrant was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 25th overall pick in the NBA Draft the following summer. Durrant played two seasons in the NBA.
Now that breakfast is over, it’s back to work for Pope and his staff who continue summer practices as they prepare for their international trip to Italy this August.
