BYU Kicker Jake Oldroyd Nails No-Step 42-Yard Field Goal

PROVO, Utah – BYU kicker Jake Oldroyd showed off some impressive leg strength in an Twitter video that was shot by his former teammate, Jonny Linehan.
In the video, Oldroyd is captured booting a 42-yard field goal without taking a single step into the kick to the amazement of Linehan, a former BYU punter who is also known for his social media antics.
It was an amazing feat of strength as place kickers typically build up some momentum by taking two or three steps into their field goal attempts. Oldroyd didn’t need a single step to knock in this particular attempt.

Before leaving on a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Osorno, Chile, Oldroyd put his name into Cougar football lore with a 33-yard, game-winning field goal against Arizona in 2016. He went 3-for-4 on field goal attempts in 2016 before a back injury ended his season. He was given a medical redshirt by the NCAA for the 2016 season, giving him back that year of eligibility.
Oldroyd is expected to re-join the Cougars for the 2019 season and help bolster a BYU kicking squad that has struggled in recent seasons.
BYU’s 2019 campaign will begin on August 29 when the Cougars host in-state rival Utah.
