Arizona’s Chandler High Produces Another BYU Football Commit

PROVO, Utah – The BYU football team is preparing to take on the Utah Utes this Thursday night, but that doesn’t mean recruiting takes any time off.
Recruiting is the lifeblood of any college football program and it never takes a break even when a new season of games is about to begin.
BYU received some good news on the recruiting trail early Sunday morning as they landed a commitment from Sitalingi Havea from Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona.
If the school sounds familiar, its because it is to BYU.
With the addition of Havea to the 2020 class, this will be the third consecutive year BYU has received a commitment from a player at Chandler High.

The previous two additions were heralded recruits in quarterback Jacob Conover (2019) and wide receiver Gunner Romney (2018). The Cougars also have a preferred walk-on kicker commit from Chandler High in Cash Peterman who like Conover is currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This football season will be Havea’s first year at Chandler. The previous two seasons he was at Mesa High School.
The past two seasons, Havea was playing along the offensive and defensive lines. For BYU, he is projected to be a defensive tackle for the Cougars. Havea has the perfect build for an interior defensive lineman checking in at 6-1, 330 pounds.
On his personal Twitter account, Havea said that after graduating from Chandler High he would be serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The 16th commit in BYU’s 2020 recruiting class, Havea will join the Cougar football team for the 2022 football season.
