SALT LAKE CITY — On Saturday, Dec. 14, the BYU Cougars’, Utah Utes’, Utah State Aggies’ and Weber State Wildcats’ men’s basketball teams will converge on Vivint Arena in downtown Salt Lake City for the third edition of the Zions Bank Beehive Classic.

Vivint Arena announced the schedule for the games Monday, with ticket sales beginning Friday, Sept. 13.

The Runnin’ Utes and Wildcats will kick off the proceedings at 1 p.m. MT, after which the Cougars and Aggies will face off at 5 p.m.

“Vivint Smart Home Arena is excited to host these four great in-state schools and their fans in a community celebration of basketball,” Jim Olson, president of Vivint Arena, said via a press release. “Now in our third year, the Zions Bank Beehive Classic is a unique opportunity to bring these teams together in one place for a college basketball showcase.”

In 2018, BYU and Utah State walked away victorious, with the Cougars downing the Utes 74-59 — powered by the play of Yoeli Childs.

The Aggies, led by Sam Merrill, held off a late rally attempt and defeated the Wildcats 76-67.

In the competition’s first year in 2017, BYU defeated Weber State 74-68, while Utah topped Utah State 77-67.

All time Beehive Classic records are as follows: BYU, 2-0; Utah, 1-1; Utah State, 1-1; Weber State, 0-2.

The schools rotate opponents in a round-robin format over the three years.

A portion of the proceeds from the Zions Bank Beehive Classic have been donated each year to the scholarship funds of the four participating universities.
