BYU versus USC: Depth Chart, Personnel Notes heading into Saturday’s game

NCAA Football: Brigham Young at Tennessee Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Coach Sitake and select players spoke to the media Monday afternoon looking ahead to the USC game. We highlighted some of the depth chart and personnel changes from last week’s game at Tennessee.

Depth Chart

  • Offense: The depth chart on the offensive side of the ball remained exactly the same.
  • Zayne Anderson is officially at free safety after playing there versus Tennessee. Zayne played safety early in his career before switching over to flash linebacker last season. Zayne had shoulder surgery after the Utah State game last year, so the move may be in part to protect his shoulder from taking more hits at the LB position. Zayne is listed as the co-starter with Sawyer Powell.
  • Replacing Zayne at flash linebacker is sophomore Chaz Ah You. Ah You got the start at FLB versus Tennessee and responded with two tackles and one sack.
  • JUCO transfer Dimitri Gallow is listed as starting right cornerback with D’Angelo Mandell. Gallow got a late start in fall camp, but he is one of BYU’s best cover guys and will counted on versus USC’s Air Raid attack.

Injuries

Kalani said in his post game presser that BYU “came out of the game pretty healthy” versus Tennessee. Khyiris Tonga tweaked his knee versus Utah and didn’t think he would play versus the Vols, but said that the coaches let him play more as the game went along. He said he’ll be good to go versus USC. Based on this play, Khyiris looks just fine.

The full press conference from Kalani, Brady Christensen, Khyiris Tonga and Micah Simon can be seen below.
