SALT LAKE CITY — Being a football kicker can be quite lonesome. Just ask Adam Sandler.

BYU kicker/punter Jake Oldroyd had a fun time proving that point in a recent segment for BYUtv’s Sports Nation, as Oldroyd went around the school’s campus to quiz students about … well, himself.

Oldroyd has made 8 of 9 field goal attempts this season, including the 43-yard game-winner against USC last weekend in a 30-27 overtime win and a 33-yarder at Tennessee the week before at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. BYU also won that day, 29-26 in double overtime.

The freshman is the team’s leading scorer, with 29 points, including hitting all five of his extra-point attempts.

That doesn’t mean he is a familiar face, or name, to everyone.

Not yet, anyway.
