PROVO — BYU started slow against San Diego before marching to a 93-70 victory on Thursday night at the Marriott Center.

Here are three takeaways that defined the game: 

  • Kolby Lee had a career game for the Cougars, scoring a career-best 21 points on a perfect 8 of 8 shooting from the field while adding five rebounds.
  • BYU (14-5, 3-1 West Coast Conference) fell behind 19-11 before going on a 9-0 run to get back into the contest. The Cougars finished the first half on a 14-2 run to go into the break up 48-36 and led by as many as 29 points in the second half.
  • BYU outshot San Diego (7-13, 0-5 WCC) 55% to 36.4% from the field and the Cougars had a 42-14 edge in points in the paint. TJ Haws added 19 points as six BYU players finished with double-figure scoring.
