SALT LAKE CITY — It was the Jake Toolson and Yoeli Childs show as BYU beat Pacific 74-60 at Alex G. Spanos Center on Thursday night in Stockton, California.

Here are three takeaways that defined the game:

  • BYU (15-6, 4-2 West Coast Conference) fell behind 53-51 on a Jeremiah Taylor 3-pointer with 10:41 to play. The Cougars put away the win with a 21-0 run that included four 3-pointers from Toolson, as well as three of those 3s in a 1:15 span. Toolson scored 14 points in the run — he finished with 28 points, six rebounds and two assists in the game — and Childs added five points and TJ Haws two in the decisive stretch.

  • Speaking of Childs, he returned for BYU after missing four games with a finger injury. He was instrumental in his return, finishing with 26 points, eight rebounds, one block and an assist.
  • The Cougars were sharper offensively, shooting 54% from the field while making 9 of 18 3-pointers. Pacific (15-7, 3-3 WCC), meanwhile, shot 39.7% from the field and made 3 of 13 3s.
