PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball has been one of the hottest commodities in the transfer market this off-season. That continues to show itself with another transfer in East Tennessee State guard Daivien Williamson putting BYU in his top list of schools.

Williamson’s top five schools include BYU, Wake Forest, San Diego State, Georgetown, and Tulsa.

A 6-foot-2-inch guard, Williamson played two seasons at East Tennessee State before entering the Transfer Portal this spring. This past year, Williamson started in 14 games during the Buccaneers 30-4 season.

Williamson was third on the Bucs in scoring last year at 10.4 points per game and was third on the team in three-point field goal percentage at 37.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Wake Forest appears to be a potential favorite for Williamson for two reasons. One, his former head coach at ETSU is now the head man at Wake Forest in Steve Forbes. Two, Williamson is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he played his high school ball at Winston-Salem Prep. Winston-Salem, North Carolina is home to the Wake Forest University campus.

BYU is heavily involved in the transfer market

BYU has already landed a letter of intent from one of the top graduate transfers in the country in Purdue center Matt Haarms. But the Cougars aren’t done. Along with Daivien Williamson, BYU is in the top seven for Georgetown guard Mac McClung.

Another name to watch is former Utah guard Both Gach who pulled his name out of the NBA Draft process and surprised many by leaving Larry Krystkowiak’s program. Leading up to BYU’s game against Utah last December, Mark Pope called Gach a potential “lottery pick” with his size and versatility.

Franco Miller out of Ole Miss was a player that BYU was linked to earlier in the transfer market, but that recruitment has appeared to cool down as of late with the emergence of McClung, Gach, and Williamson entering the Portal.
