BYU Guard Alex Barcello Loses Part Of Tooth During Pepperdine Game

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball guard Alex Barcello lost part of his tooth during the Cougars game against Pepperdine on Saturday night.

The senior leader for the Cougars was on the floor battling for possession with Pepperdine’s Kendall Munson. In the process, Munson came away with the ball and connected with an elbow to Barcello’s face.

Officials called a foul on Barcello.
After the elbow connected, Barcello had his hand to his mouth as he lost part of his tooth. The referees then reviewed the play for a possible flagrant, and they ended up assessing a flagrant foul to Munson.

During the TV broadcast on ESPN2, they caught a close up of Barcello’s new smile after battling for his team.
Alex Barcello is a leader for BYU Basketball
Alex Barcello has been one of the country’s top shooters this season. Coming into Saturday night’s game against Pepperdine, the Arizona transfer has been knocking down 56 percent of his three-point attempts and 55 percent from the field.
BYU defeated Pepperdine 65-54. Barcello ended up with four points on the night. After the game, Barcello went to the dentist office to fix his tooth.
