BYU vs. Arizona State: Odds, betting lines and computer predictions for Cougars vs. Sun Devils

#23 BYU will welcome #19 Arizona State Saturday night to Provo for a top 25 showdown 8:15 MST on ESPN. ASU is off to a 2-0 start and returns the bulk of their team from last season, but this is their first real test of the season and first road with a material amount of fans since Oregon State 22 months ago.

BYU of course is 2-0 after opening up the season with two Pac-12 wins over Arizona and Utah. BYU is looking to move to 3-0 versus the Pac-12 South

Lines and Odds

After opening as a two-point favorite, ASU is up to a 4-point favorite as of this writing. The over/under for the game is set at 50. ASU was a 6-point favorite when the line for this game first came out in May. BYU didn’t cover the near two-touchdown spread after an 8-point win versus Arizona but covered and won outright last week by 9 points after being a touchdown underdog.

Predictive Rankings

Sagarin

The Sagarin rankings have been low on BYU from the start and still don’t particularly like the Cougars. BYU is 71 in the rankings after opening the year at 95. ASU is number 24. Factoring home field advantage, they favor ASU by 5 points.

Billingsley

The Billingsley rankings absolutely love BYU, ranking the Cougars at 4. They had BYU at 8 to start the season. They have ASU at 46 and favor BYU by 12 points.

ESPN

ESPN’s FPI rankings have BYU at 50 and ASU at 40. They give BYU a 53.3% win probability.

Composite Rating

Massey’s composite ratings combine 36 different rating sites and combine them into one composite ranking. It doesn’t give score predictions, but it ranks BYU 19 and Arizona State 28.
