The Big 12 sixth man of the year is pursuing a professional career as BYU guard/forward Jaxson Robinson announced Tuesday he will enter the NBA Draft. Robinson did not indicate that he will enter the transfer portal, although he could choose to do that later.

Robinson took a huge leap in his second season in Provo, leading BYU in scoring with 14.2 ppg on 35.4% shooting from three. He caught additional attention with his performance in BYU’s first round NCAA Tournament loss to Duquesne when he scored 25 points and shot 5-11 from three. Robinson scored 20+ points five times and made at least one three in every Big 12 game.

Robinson graduated high school a year early and received little playing time his first two college seasons at Texas A&M and Arkansas. He transferred to BYU for his third season and averaged 8.5 points in 30 starts for the Cougars last year.

Jaxson got on NBA Draft boards this year with his shooting and length, and many pundits pegged him as around a second round pick if he entered this year’s draft. With strong workouts, Jaxson could sneak into the first round range since this is one of the weakest drafts in the last 25 years. Jaxson does have one year of eligibility remaining and could enter the portal after the May 1 deadline if he is a graduate transfer.

BYU hasn’t had a NBA player drafted since Jimmer and Jaxson will have a chance to put BYU back on the NBA map.
