Coming from a hospital administrator
DON'T DO IT! REPEAT, DO NOT!!!

It might work out for most, but there are a lot of risks associated with home birth. Namely, if the baby has any problems at all, the midwife will not be able to perform a C-section and it only takes a few mins without oxygen or compromised heart tones to cause perminant harm. This can happen even in the hospital under the best of precautions and response, let alone at home and 30 plus mins away from C-section intervention. There are times when the baby literally cannot come out vaginally, no matter the intervention.

Would you let your kid ride in the car without a seatbelt or ride a bike without a helmet? If so, go ahead and roll the dice on the midwife home birth.

Some of you have so many kids that the loss of one is no big deal I guess.
